I was recently informed that a brother has been disfellowshipped for slander because he'd rightfully accused his wife (elder's daughter) of adultery.
The wolves will justify the motive between themselves, and then rip to pieces their victim.

In theory, can one be disfellowshipped for attempted suicide?
by Saename inso i was recently reading the reasons for disfellowshipping as listed in shepherd the flock of god.
the handbook is available online here: https://thetruthofjehowaswittness.files.wordpress.com/2012/12/jehovas-vitner.pdf.. on page 59, point #4, it lists attempted suicide as a reason for disfellowshipping.
has it ever been removed?

A Little Direction Please
by Brian J ini'm an active elder, cobe, just got home from the meeting where i handled the treasures part and concluded by announcing a friend of mine has been d/f,.....blah blah blah...and over the last year have woken up.
i simply cannot spill my guts to my wife and children as it would be family suicide.
i have zero desire to bash, spread my feelings, or become an "apostate".

Learning from others who have already travelled the road you are now on will be of the utmost help to you. You are now an "apostate"of the WTBTS - not of Christianity. Feel good about it. Each person can only give you advice from their personal perspective and how it impacted on their family members.
The sooner you resign as an Elder "for personal & private reasons" the better. Under no circumstances give any reasons to anyone - especially your wife! This will get the ball rolling, and people's towards you will noticeably change. Once you do so, your wife will start to see the conditional love and friendship disappear from some/many and her eyes and mind will very quickly discern things she'd never noticed or considered before. She will then want to discuss topics which are taboo at the moment. That will be your cue to help your wife and family fade together. This is exactly how it has worked out for one of my family who was an elder. His zealous JW wife has now seen The Truth About The Truth. (TTATT)

The letter says, "If there are excess funds, the elders may decide to recommend that the congregation(s) pass a resolution to donate the excess funds to Kingdom Hall and Assembly Hall construction worldwide."
Is there such a named and specific fund for "Kingdom Hall & Assembly Hall Construction"? (KH & AHC)
I distinctly remember the org's 4 page money-grabbing letter mentioned KH & AHC more than 20 times, but then said that the org would use the money for whatever it desired. The blood-sucking WTBTS continues to suck.

If Elders and Ministerial Servants did what Michael Fallon has done, few would remain
by Isambard Crater inover the years i have seen plenty of elders and ministerial servants touch other j.w's knees, thighs, give very long and intimate hugs, blah, blah, blah.
i know of other sisters who have felt really uncomfortable with such behaviour, but the brothers have just explained that they're being loving as caring christian friends, so they get away with it.
it angers me that no j.w's will speak out about historic or ongoing inappropriate touching for fear of being disfellowshipped or losing the hope of paradise..

I have strong suspicions that the Michael Fallon knee-touching incident could be the catalyst for more serious allegations about him to surface. The knee-touching now appears to have been watered-down by the media.
According to BBC reports up until last night, he touched the journalist's knee just "once". However, the BBC News this morning is now using the word "repeatedly," and judging by Mr. Fallon's resignation speech in which he said "A number of allegations have surfaced about MPs in recent days, including some [not just one] about my previous conduct. Many of these have been false [not all] but I accept that in the past I have fallen below the high standards..."
It looks like he may have quickly jumped before he was pushed.

Most J.W.'s stomachs will instantly churn and their brains will shut down the moment they are confronted with anything which exposes an org teaching/practice as being corrupt - even if the proof is right in front of them.
Go easy on her and invite her to share her opinion on topics like the org's 2 witness rule for paedophiles, or why the unscriptural practice of confessing to 3 elders is compulsory, but Catholics confessing to 1 priest is wrong.

I was reliably informed that the org originally bought much more of the (derelict) land for the Assembly Hall than was needed
and subsequently sold the excess real estate for a considerable profit. That area then became a hub for numerous businesses.

most of us were raised to firmly believe we would never get old or die... so here we are now having to face the reality that are getting older... we are going to die.. sometimes it really pisses me off that we were never helped to comprehend this most basic of facts.
we were given a utopian dream as a "fact", and hence never taught how to face our inevitable futures.... thoughts?.

We may be living longer, but we're also dying longer. We're now having to live with sicknesses and conditions which would have ended our lives rapidly over a century ago. Death can be a release for the relatives as well as the sufferer, especially for things like Alzheimer's, which took 6 years to finally conquer someone very special to me. Live life, and love each day as far as you are able. Be as good a human being as you can be. Best summed up in this:
Desiderata
Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism.

And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.
